Guide: How to set up and use ProtonMail
ProtonMail is an encrypted email service founded in 2013 in Geneva, Switzerland. The company was founded by Jason Stockman, Wei Sun, and Andrew Yen with the goal of providing a more secure and private way of communication. ProtonMail uses end-to-end encryption to protect emails between users. The service can be accessed through a web browser or via mobile apps for iOS and Android.
ProtonMail has received praise for its security features and has been used by journalists, activists, and whistle-blowers such as Edward Snowden. In 2016, ProtonMail was one of the most downloaded apps in Germany after the introduction of a new law that required businesses to store customer data on servers located within the country.
If you’re looking for a more secure way to communicate, ProtonMail might be the right choice for you. In this guide, we’ll show you how to set up and use ProtonMail.
Before you start using Proton Mail
ProtonMail is an encrypted email service founded in 2014 at the CERN research center by scientists who met while working on the Large Hadron Collider project. The ProtonMail secure email service is developed in Switzerland and guaranteed by Swiss law.
ProtonMail uses end-to-end encryption to protect user data. This means that only the sender and recipient can read the messages, and nobody in between, not even ProtonMail.
ProtonMail secure email accounts are encrypted by default. This means that all messages in transit and at rest are protected with AES-256 bit encryption, salted hashing, and PBKDF2.
ProtonMail’s features include:
– End-to-end encryption
– Zero-access architecture
– Open source
– Swiss privacy laws
– Free and paid plans

If you’re looking for a secure email service, ProtonMail is a great option. Here’s what you need to know before you start using ProtonMail.
When you create a ProtonMail account, you’ll be asked to choose a username and password. The username can be your real name or a pseudonym. The password must be at least 8 characters long and contain a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
You’ll also be asked to set up two-factor authentication (2FA). 2FA adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring you to enter a code from your mobile phone when logging in, in addition to your password.
Once you’ve created your account, you can start sending and receiving encrypted emails. To encrypt a message, simply click the lock icon in the compose window. The message will be encrypted with a key that only the recipient has.
If the recipient doesn’t have a ProtonMail account, they can still read the message by entering a passphrase that you set.
ProtonMail offers both free and paid plans. The free plan includes 500 MB of storage and can be used on up to three devices. The paid plans start at $5/month and include 5 GB of storage and support for up to 50 devices.
So if you’re looking for a secure email service that’s easy to use and offers a variety of features, ProtonMail is a great option. Sign up for a free account today and see for yourself!

Once your account is verified, you can start using it! Just log in with your email address and password, and you’re good to go.
How to use encryption when sending emails
If you’re worried about the security of your email communications, you can use encryption to protect your messages. Encryption is a way of scrambling your message so that only the person who has the key can read it.
There are a few different ways to encrypt your email. One popular option is to use a web-based service like ProtonMail. ProtonMail is a free, open source service that uses encryption to secure your email communications.
To use ProtonMail, you’ll need to create an account and then log in. Once you’re logged in, you’ll be able to compose new messages or reply to messages that you’ve received. When you’re composing a new message, you’ll see a lock icon next to the “Send” button. This indicates that the message will be encrypted.
You can also encrypt messages that you’re sending to people who don’t use ProtonMail. To do this, you’ll need to generate a key pair. A key pair consists of a public key and a private key. The public key is used to encrypt a message and the private key is used to decrypt it.
To generate a key pair, you can use a tool like GPGTools. Once you have your key pair, you’ll need to share your public key with the person you’re sending the message to. They’ll use this public key to encrypt the message before sending it to you. When you receive the encrypted message, you can use your private key to decrypt it.
Email encryption is a great way to protect your communications from being intercepted and read by someone else. By using a web-based service like ProtonMail or by generating your own key pair, you can keep your messages safe and secure.
How to delete an account
It’s really easy to delete your protonmail account if you no longer want to use it. Here’s how:

3. Confirm that you want to delete your account by entering your password.
